Stop Climate Chaos Scotland welcomes Humza Yousaf into the role of First Minister and looks forward to working with him to drive the urgent action needed to address the climate crisis.
During the SNP leadership campaign Stop Climate Chaos Scotland wrote to all candidates to seek their strong and public commitment to prioritising and tackling the climate crisis and leading the bold action urgently needed to reduce emissions, champion climate justice and lead a Just Transition away from fossil fuels. Mr Yousaf’s reply confirmed that “meeting the climate crisis will be a key priority for me as First Minister”.
Mike Robinson, Chair of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, said:
“There are many challenges facing the new FM, but few are as far reaching as our response to the climate emergency. The next few years are critical if we are to lay the groundwork for the necessary transition away from fossil fuels and build a future that is positive, robust and fair. We welcomed Humza Yousaf’s commitment to this during the leadership campaign and look forward to working with him, the new Cabinet, and all MSPs to build on positive steps made so far and to drive further action.”
