This Campaign has now finished
When it ran | 2013 |
What we did | We ran a project with six people from across Scotland who were challenged to switch to using a more low carbon form of transport for six weeks. They blogged about their experiences of this change, highlighting the good and bad aspects of using low carbon transport. |
What changed | This contributed to our wider campaigning work at the time on low carbon transport too achieve lower greenhouse gas emissions. See our We Want to See Double campaign for more information. |
Six bloggers, six weeks, one challenge: to change the way they travel
In recognition that more effort was needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector, responsible for a quarter of total emissions in Scotland, we ran a project in 2013 to try to encourage people to think about, and hopefully change, the way they travel.
A lively new blogging website – Travelling Tales – featured regular blogs from six people across Scotland who took on the challenge to switch to a more low carbon form of transport for six weeks. They share their experiences of this change, highlighting the good and bad aspects of using low carbon transport.
Transport choices affect all of us. We all need to move about, whether that’s popping down to the shops, commuting to work, taking children to school or going on holiday. Everyone uses transport in one form or another. The travel choices we make have an impact on the environment, including our individual and collective carbon footprints.
The Travelling Tales project told some real life stories about transport choices. Our bloggers shared what happens as they made these changes, the obstacles and benefits, how they felt at the time and afterwards.
