This Campaign has now finished
When it ran | July - November 2021 |
What we did | Over 7000 people added their voice to show people in Scotland wanted strong action on climate at COP26 in Glasgow. We worked with over 40 diverse partners to ensure as many people in Scotland heard about the campaign. We took the messages to events both within the official space at COP26 and in ‘side events’ that featured speeches from Scottish Ministers and youth ambassadors. |
What changed | People in Scotland had the opportunity to feel more connected to what was happening at COP26 and had a way of sending a message to decision makers. We built strong connections with partners in Wales to show that people in devolved nations care strongly about climate and nature. |
Let's show our leaders just how much we care
The climate emergency threatens our communities, the Scottish nature we know and love, and our prospects for a healthier and fairer future. It’s happening now, and it’s particularly affecting those around the world who have done the least to cause it. But there is still hope, and we need your help.
The eyes of the world have turned to Glasgow as world leaders gathered for the COP26 UN Climate Summit. This has given us a unique opportunity to shape global action and help achieve a fair outcome for communities around the world.
Through the Climate Scotland campaign, we have sent our leaders a message, and left them in no doubt. The people of Scotland want strong and meaningful action to protect the things we love and create a better future for people everywhere.

Health and wellbeing
“The ‘Health and wellbeing’ mural is inspired by how nature, and my small garden, makes me feel. I explored the means by which people find small ways to bring nature into their homes. Window boxes in flats without gardens and other innovative ideas are great ways to make gardening accessible.”

Future Generations
“The ‘future generations’ piece joyfully depicts a grandmother taking her two grandchildren out to see the Scottish hills, there is a loch running through the landscape and hills are dotted with flowers. It is a reminder that we must do everything in our power to protect these beautiful places to ensure that future generations are able to enjoy them too.”

Sustainable food systems
“The ‘sustainable food systems’ mural depicts a mound of soil planted with broccoli, potatoes, carrots and Jerusalem artichoke. Inspired by the local community garden at the Bowling Green in Pollokshields where I volunteer, which I think is a brilliant example of this. An organic, no dig, permaculture style approach to growing food not only reduces greenhouse emissions but also increases biodiversity which plays a vital role in making ecosystems more resilient to climate change.”
