Your suggestions for climate new year’s resolutions in 2024
We launched our new year’s climate resolutions campaign at the COP28 Global Day of Action on 9th December in Edinburgh, and have gathered hundreds of suggestions from people across Scotland for new year’s climate resolutions for party leaders to commit to.
Please act to tackle climate chaos and bio-degradation immediately and keep the the good of our environment in mind in all your deliberations. Thank you.
Jenny
Please address the climate crisis. 2023 was the warmest year on record for our planet. Global warming worst affects the poorest people in the world. I wonder what sort of planet we are passing on to our children and grandchildren...

I am very keen for Scotland to be a leading supporter tackling climate chaos. My grandchildren deserve a better future than temperatures soaring and all sorts of climate disasters.

It’s time for us all to come together and act to tackle the most pressing of concerns, global warming. This calls for a cross party coherent plan. I believe Scotland can be the world leader it once was in education and innovation.

I’m almost 70 and I feel responsible! My many nephews and nieces and their children have decades ahead of them and I want them to have a healthy and safe planet on which to live out their lives. They love nature and they choose to live with our planet and not to strip it of everything it has
Maggie
Scotland has made a good start on helping and encouraging people to go environment-friendly. We can’t afford to be complacent. Please keep up the momentum with progressive green policies and make the arguments to win over those who are sceptical.
Marion
For too long now the ‘climate emergency’ has been treated as nothing like an emergency, and meanwhile we see more and more chaos, more and more people affected all around the world and more and more devastation of habitats and therefore the balance of nature. I am writing to you to ask that you act as if this is an emergency - be bold! Be an example and please make polluters pay so perhaps they too will act to reduce their impact on the climate.
Anna
The beginning of a New Year is a good time to resolve to take greater action to ensure that this world has a future!
