Your suggestions for climate new year’s resolutions in 2024
We launched our new year’s climate resolutions campaign at the COP28 Global Day of Action on 9th December in Edinburgh, and have gathered hundreds of suggestions from people across Scotland for new year’s climate resolutions for party leaders to commit to.
I work in conservation and see the impacts of climate change here in the Hebrides for example the greater intensity of rainfall and stormy weather making island life more difficult for both the human and wildlife populations. Climate change is already causing huge suffering and conflict around the world. We've got to act now!

I am only 14, but I can still see that climate change is among the most important issues facing us. This is something politicians need to realise too, and soon.

As a young person, I have been passionately active on the climate change for many years. And as COP28 draws to a close I am once again disappointed by the lack of action. The clock is ticking and now is not the time to scale back on pledges. We must be radical and committed to serious change. I urge you to commit to a radical program for net-zero including the complete phase out of fossil fuels by 2050 at least.

The science is clear - there isn't much time left to avert a global climate crisis. We are seeing it already in the UK, and the catastrophic flooding in 2023 killed people. We need you, our future leaders, to act with courage and commit to bold and urgent action - there's no more time to waste!
