Your suggestions for climate new year’s resolutions in 2024

We launched our new year’s climate resolutions campaign at the COP28 Global Day of Action on 9th December in Edinburgh, and have gathered hundreds of suggestions from people across Scotland for new year’s climate resolutions for party leaders to commit to.

At this time of COP28, as a teacher I'm so aware of the rise of climate anxiety in our young people.

I implore you to take decisive action to limit carbon emissions to protect our world and to keep it habitable for future generations who are not responsible for the damage that has been wreaked on it by human greed and irresponsibility. Thank you

Every day I think carefully about the impact my choices have on the climate emergency, whether it's by choosing to walk or use public transport rather than the car, buying food from local producers, reusing and recycling and many other things. I believe that my choices make a difference but they are a drop in the ocean compared to what you can choose to do!

We shall vote for the party with the greatest likelihood of making a real difference re. the climate disaster that is unfolding.

I’m writing to express disappointment and exasperation that its taken 28 attempts by world leaders to agree to put into practice the solutions that have existed for ages that will redress the climate crisis, before it’s too late. Please do all you can to stop them procrastinating and please do all you can to forge ahead with the necessary actions in the country that you work as leaders!

We need to act now and make decisions to reduce global warming and support those in the Global South who are facing the devastating effects of the climate crisis so that they can take steps to farm sustainably and be able to take steps to protect the soil and plant trees etc. We need to make polluters pay through taxes and put money into renewable energy.
