Your suggestions for climate new year’s resolutions in 2024
We launched our new year’s climate resolutions campaign at the COP28 Global Day of Action on 9th December in Edinburgh, and have gathered hundreds of suggestions from people across Scotland for new year’s climate resolutions for party leaders to commit to.
Without an environment we are nothing, have nothing and we are complicit in its destruction by not acting. We can each take action but we also need those with power to be bolder, be courageous and stop putting the environment second. Wake up, we owe it to ourselves, each other and those who come after us.

The stated intentions are good. Please translate these into meaningful action now.
Martin
We can't leave this as an issue for our children to resolve. We need to take responsibility and act now. Please, use your leadership position to do this.
Gillian
The earth is on the brink of irretrievable systems failure. Nothing matters more than drastically changing how we care for cooperate with the earth. Our children and grandchildren will never understand how we allowed our beautiful planet to be destroyed rather than change our ways. Please stand up to the oil and gas giants who put profit first. Please do whatever it takes to ensure a future for our children and future generations across the globe. We know what is needed, but seem to lack the courage and/or wisdom to change.

As a voting member of the public who is extremely concerned at the greenwashing and lack of genuine action I urge you now to make nature and the climate the top priority.
Jennifer
I count myself lucky to be alive now; I'm unsure if the children of tomorrow will be able to say the same. I don't want to be remembered as the generation that allowed shareholders and profit-mongers to turn our planet into a burning, frost-bitten wasteland. That guilt weighs on me, ruining the importance of every effort I make in my life. If you feel the same, then please use the power that YOU know you have to change our future for the better, and make an everlasting mark on history. In the end, history is all that will exist of us. Make it a positive one.
Roy
We have to take action now. Can’t afford wait any longer

Without urgent action to reduce carbon emissions and restore nature we know that the social and economic consequences will be dire for Scotland and the world. The science is clear that action needs to be taken, we know what measures will deliver the emissions reductions needed but there appears to be a lack of political will to grasp the nettle before us. Please be brave and take a lead in ensuring that Scotland takes the necessary steps to deliver a just and swift transition.
